Easter Eggs, Plaid, Debutation?!

If you asked five different Swifties when they believe Debut (Taylor's Version) or Reputation (Taylor's Version), I can guarantee you that you would receive 5 different answers. Personally, I believe Taylor Swift is following her pattern releasing a new album one year, then another two rerecords the following year. Someone else may believe that the last two stolen versions are dropping before Swift's tour ends, while another Swiftie could believe they will surprise drop together tonight. Regardless of what individuals believe, there is one thing we all know, and that is that Taylor Swift is a mastermind., who never leaves anything up to chance or coincidence. She is the Queen of throwing in Easter Eggs in music videos, social media posts, red carpet outfits, even going as far as leaving fans clues three years in advance. Taylor has stated she keeps PDF files to keep track of her Easter Eggs, so it’s no surprise fans are losing their minds and generating thousands of theories from her different outfit choices each night on the Eras Tour, to the subliminal meanings behind each surprise song in her acoustic set to work out when she is going to announce and release Debut (Taylor’s Version), and Reputation (Taylor’s Version).

Taylor Swift has been seen in the last few months are being in her ‘plaid era’, arriving at the Chiefs vs Saints game back in October wearing a Vivienne Westwood ensemble, as well as arriving to the 2024 VMAs in a Dior plaid ensemble, encouraging fans and media alike to speculate on the highly anticipated rereleases of her stolen albums. Fans on social media have believe the plaid means Debut is just around the corner, using the theory that Swift’s Lover House shown on screen during The Eras Tour features a Debut room that has plaid wallpaper. Other fans believe that plaid means Reputation is being announced soon, particularly with her grungy Dior ensemble at the VMAs. Taylor has recently been doing mash-ups of songs during her acoustic sets, choosing to mash up songs from both Debut and Reputation, creating Debutation, which has resulted in more and more fans believing that the two could be mixed or released together, as a double album.

Swift has remained tight-lipped on all things regarding releases recently while wrapping up the final few shows of her tour, we do need to keep in mind just how busy she has been over the past two years. Fans have received the worldwide tour, which on average has been three nights in a row in cities, two rerecords (Speak Now and 1989), two brand new studio albums (Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department), in which the latter was a double album, featuring 31 songs. Is it time the crowd stop chanting for more!, and give Taylor some time to rest?

While I believe Swift will release Debut (Taylor’s Version) before Reputation (Taylor’s Version) to claim back her name before her reputation, we never truly know what she is planning, and when it will happen. All we know is that not only is Taylor Swift is truly the best in the business in ensuring her fans keep busy while trying to work out her next move, but also someone who does deserve rest. We have received so much over the last two years, lets stop chanting for more!
